Stop smoking with cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy
A structured four-session programme to help you stop and stay smoke-free.
- Four 60-minute sessions
- Free 15-minute consultation
- Orpington or online
Why the programme runs over four sessions
Many stop-smoking hypnotherapy services are offered as a single intensive session. My approach is different.
Smoking is rarely maintained by one factor alone. It can involve nicotine dependence, automatic habits, emotional triggers, established routines and beliefs about what smoking provides. Trying to address all of these in one appointment may not suit everyone.
A structured four-session programme gives us time to understand your individual smoking pattern, prepare carefully, support you through stopping and strengthen the changes needed to remain smoke-free.
Each session is tailored to you. You will not receive a standard script or a one-size-fits-all treatment.
Your four-session programme
Each session has its own focus and builds on the one before.
Understand and prepare
A detailed assessment of when, where and why you smoke, what triggers the urge, previous attempts to stop and the beliefs attached to smoking. We then develop your personalised treatment plan and agree how you will prepare for stopping.
Stop smoking
The transition to becoming smoke-free. This may include cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, hypnosis and guided mental rehearsal, strategies for cravings and withdrawal, changing established routines and preparing for challenging situations.
Strengthen the change
Once you have stopped, we review what is working and address any difficulties: managing stress without cigarettes, responding to unexpected urges, handling social pressure and challenging thoughts such as ‘just one won’t matter’.
Remain smoke-free
A plan for the future: high-risk situations, setbacks or lapses, stress and emotional triggers, long-term coping strategies and self-hypnosis, so you can protect the progress you have made.
